End of may fencing update

6/21/2024

Hello Fencers and families!

Can't get enough of fencing?  Try saber classes with Coach Victor on Mondays, Youth (11-14) at 5:30-6:30 and Adult (14+) from 6:40-8.  Competition Epee with Coach Elliot on Wednesdays, 6:45-8:15, Friday epee  classes at 5 (youth beginner), 6 youth intermediate, 7 adult.  Go try a new class and weapon!  For competition classes, prior coach approval needed.  P.S., I went to Saber classes this past Monday and 7 youth and 4 adults were in attendance.  Saber is gaining a Windsor following!

SAVE THE DATE:
August 10, 2024 High Plains Fencing Guild is planning its first sanctioned competitive tournament.  It will be held at the Library Innovation Center in Greeley.

We are also considering a youth tournament for those under 14.  Let your coach know if you are interested in participating or assisting.  We will have referee opportunities and the possibility of getting referee certifications for those that pass the test and are approved through demonstration.  Referees are in demand throughout Colorado and referees are paid at tournaments.  Ask your coach or Referee Bridget Garcia about studying for the test and participating as a referee.

THANKS!  In May, Bridget Garcia and Josh Miller came to the tournaments and served as referees in addition to Assistant Coach Nik Korolainen.

CONGRATULATIONS! To Clara Knowles, on her promotion from Assistant Coach to Foil and Epee Coach.  Coach Clara will lead the Friday 5 P.M. youth class in Windsor.  Also, congratulations to Coach Clara, Jack Branum, Alex Miles, Heather Hepworth and Marcus Everitt-our newest high school graduates!  We look forward to great things in your future.
